Soul Is Bulletproof: What’s Really Happening
I got everything wrong about the book release party except for the most important part – the burlesque dancer covered in fried chicken. Turns out the Hi-Ho was where we were going while he was telling me about the release party, and there happened to be a DJ in the car. Oh, how the drunken brain convolutes events. So anyway, here are the sober (actual) details of what’s going down:
∞ The official book release date is November 4th, and no, that’s not an accident.
∞ Garden District Bookshop reading, Thursday November 6 at 5PM. Free wine, three yet-to-be-determined readers.
∞ The Big One, Saturday, November 15 at 6PM, Dragon’s Den (immediately following the all-day Book Fair in the Marigny on Frenchmen St.). In exchange for buying a book at the door (around 18 bucks), you get some free booze (Margaritas, Handsome Juice, beer), free food (potluck, plus McHardy’s fried chicken served atop the body of a Fleur de Tease Burlesque dancer), and free entertainment (The Zydepunks, acoustic).
There will be other readings, too, just no official dates at the moment.
Susan Larson’s review (nola.com) will be in the paper on November 5th.
Site’s not officially up yet, but you’ll be able to purchase a copy of the book soon here: nolafugeespress.com.
Joe says it’s our best one yet, so check it out.

It’s up now. I think we used to link amazon.com on nolafugees.com for sales previously. I never bought one cuz they always just gave me a contributor’s copy, but I think that’s how the editors did it.
